OSC seeks well-qualified applicants for a Social Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) Advisor for the anticipated USAID Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA). The purpose of this activity is to contribute to increasing women’s access to employment and leadership in Jordan by improving women’s access to the job market, enhancing the enabling environment, and addressing inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions. This activity has three specific objectives: 1) Improve women’s access to jobs in the private sector and leadership opportunities in the private and public sectors; 2) Improve supported perceptions, practices, and advocacy; and 3) Stimulate and enforce more equitable, safe, and accessible working environments.

Position Description

The SBCC Advisor will provide overall technical assistance for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of SBCC strategies for the project. S/he will provide technical direction to define SBCC strategies and activities to promote women’s empowerment and leadership in the workforce and in their communities. S/he should have demonstrated capacity designing SBCC strategies, implementing community engagement activities, overseeing mass and mid-media campaigns, and building partner behavior change capacity. The successful candidate will need to apply technical knowledge of gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, and economic growth and development to the development of SBCC approaches and activities. S/he will directly supervise technical staff, building a cohesive, diverse team of communications and SBCC experts capable of passing their skills onto counterparts and grantees. This is a long-term (five year) position based in Amman, Jordan.

Requirements

· Master’s degree in areas such as communications, marketing, social or behavioral sciences, or related field

· Minimum 8 years of SBCC-specific experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring and evaluating SBCC strategies

· Experienced in capacity building, training, and leading a team

· Demonstrated knowledge of women’s economic empowerment and workforce development and leadership issues in Jordan and/or the Middle East

· Excellent oral and written English and Arabic language communication skills

· This position is open to Jordan nationals only
